A prominent supporter of Bill de Blasio’s mayoral campaign is taking a public stance against a major policy initiative he supports.
A co-founder of the New York Working Families Party and the former head of ACORN, Bertha Lewis, plans to headline a rally Saturday evening to oppose the construction of a waste transfer station on the Upper East Side, an initiative de Blasio supports.
Lewis said it bothers her that the issue of opening the dump on E. 91st Street is seen as one affecting only wealthy white New Yorkers on the Upper East Side.
