Pledge 2 Protect is very proud that two of its own volunteers, Helaine Eisenberg-Battey and Jill Eisner, were honored by 76th District Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright as Women of Distinction Award Recipients on March 20, 2015.

We honor them too. Helaine and Jill have worked tirelessly for the Pledge 2 Protect cause and, especially, to ensure that the voices of NYCHA residents living at Stanley Isaacs and Holmes Towers are heard by the rest of the community and by the NYC administration. Thank you to Helaine and Jill — and to all of our tireless volunteers who are out on the front lines every day fighting to keep our community safe from the dangers posed by the East 91st Street Marine Transfer Station. We must stay strong: our fight continues.

The awards ceremony was held at the Women’s History Celebration and ribbon cutting for the Community Office Grand Opening reception, 1365 First Avenue. Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, State Senator Jose Serrano, Council Member Ben Kallos and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer were in attendance to recognize the outstanding work of the local nominees and to welcome the new community office.
