Pledge 2 Protect (P2P) hosted the premiere of the documentary, “Talking Truth: The Real Story Behind the E. 91st St. Garbage Station” which was produced by concerned citizens.
Talking Truth presents scientifically documented harms that will be imposed upon New
Yorkers of all ages and demographics, especially the most vulnerable; children and low-
income; and on New Yorkers across the river in the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and
Staten Island. Truths that Mayor de Blasio does not refute, yet continues to ignore.
The film substantiates the facts behind why the garbage station does not achieve its
goal, is not needed, and why the DEC should not renew the permits for its construction.
Approaching the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, Talking Truth vividly documents
that the garbage station will create an environmental disaster when another Sandy-size
storm inevitably occurs.
As the City moves forward with building this dangerous garbage facility, P2P continues
to educate the public about the short and long-term health, safety, environmental and
fiscal dangers that will adversely impact all New Yorkers because of this unjust policy by
Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Assemblyman Dan Quart, Assemblyman Robert
Rodriguez, Council Member Ben Kallos, Council Member Dan Garodnick and
community members appear in the film.
